
Before the examination:
Obtain a copy of the formulae book - and use it!
Write a list of and LEARN any formulae not in the fomulae book
Learn basic definitions
Make sure you know how to use your calculator
At the start of the examination:
Read the instructions on the question paper and the answer booklet
Note the number of questions and check that your paper is complete when the exam starts
During the examination:
Start each question on a new page
Read the WHOLE question before you start to answer
Try to spot clues in the question
If the question says "hence" make sure you use the previous parts in your answer
Don't write in pencil or red ink
Draw clear, well-labelled diagrams
Show ALL your working - including intermediate stages
Don't cross out work
Don't fudge your answers (particularly if the answer is given!)
Don't round prematurely
Make sure you give your final answer to the required degree of accuracy
If you solution is becoming very lengthy: check the original details given in the question
Take note of the part marks given in the question
If doing rough work: indicate clearly to which question it refers
Use graphical calculators cautiously!
Do not write comments to the examiner on your answer sheets!
On graphical questions: use sensible scales and label axes
At the end of the examination:
Fill in the column question numbers on the front cover
Fill in all the boxes on the supplementary answer sheets
At all times:
Listen to your teachers!
